Hand quilted art quilts & pillows.
Cheryl has recently begun sewing again and has been playing with modern quilting, improvisation, bold graphics, color and overstitching. She has always been drawn to textiles, including the work of the women of Gee’s Bend, Native American weavers, Amish quilters and mixes old with new. She borrows inspiration from the world around her, to which she tries to keep her eyes and mind open and pays special thanks to her grandmother who taught her to sew so long ago. Cheryl uses new and recycled fabric in her work, most often cotton. For Cheryl, the act of hand stitching is meditative.
